Fisher-Price ,a subsidiary of Mattel, have set up a professional online store to enable their kids customers to browse and shop from home. With rival stores having opened up state of the art sites, how does Fisher-Price compare with the competition?

The Pre School Learning Toys Selection at Fisher-Price

The products are from babyhood up until the age of five. The stores site uses age within its menu system and has baby gear, infant, toddler and pre-schooler as the headings. We were a little confused at the difference between baby and infant but it seems that the first is looking at equipment and the latter at toys and learning products. Once in your age category you couldn’t refine your search further, say by price. On the whole the age navigation is helpful but doesn’t go the extra mile and is far in the shadows of ToysRUs.

What kind of brands do they offer? How many brands are on offer? Is this the real McCoy or 'off the back of a truck'?.

The ‘Brands’ section contains a multitude of Fisher-Price branded toys. This site only sells Fisher-Price products, although some are sold under their own brand names, such as ‘Gemz Creations’ and others are via partnerships with well known companies such as Discovery Channel and Sesame Street.

A customer support line which is open 7 days a week as well as an office address and email contact. Support on this site is organized and accessible.

How detailed is the product description info? Quality, detail and scope of text..

The items on this kids shopping stores are split by age groups, which then list toys by their category or brand name. The information supplied on each product is detailed and interesting.

Whilst the content was easy enough to use, some potentially useful features were missing; such as a search facility within each category, allowing customers to present the products by cost or alphabetical order.

Another missing feature was the ‘find a gift’ service, which would really enhance the site.

Overall a very good site but with a few notable deficiencies.

Are there deals here? We graded the extra value you can get for your buck..

The sales section had a handy search function by age, which we thought was very useful. However there were only 20 items reduced and for a site of this size and a company of this stature, we would have expected a few more offers.

Unique selling point? Why is it different to other shopping sites? Are there any unusual products and packages available? Innovations?.

Fisher-Price is a well respected, quality brand. It sells a comprehensive range of toys for babies and young children. Their online toy store showcases the various products well however, there was nothing on the site to really impress. We get the feeling that Fisher-Price are following the completion, such as ToysRUs, as opposed to operating at the cutting edge.

We price checked a $50 item over the net and found it $5 cheaper at ToysRUs. Value for money is obviously to be found elsewhere!
