We can list it all in one sentence; cameras, printers, and scanners.  Oh, and we forgot calculators. That is what you can buy at Canon’s online electronics store.  Don’t look for anything else.

What is the shipping policy here? Does the site offer express, next day delivery, guaranteed or international shipping? We read the small print and count the costs. .
Buying direct from the manufacturer is always risky.  They don’t have the experience or the established relationship with shippers that the major retailers do, so this is another example of buy at your own risk.

Why is it different to other stores online? We graded on originality, design, backgrounds, colors, style and innovation..

When it comes to electronics related products like digital cameras, Canon is a world class innovator.  When it comes to marketing and selling those cameras online, Canon’s clunky, slow, and unappealing website is nothing to brag about.

How interactive is this site? Is there a Facebook Group? Twitter? RSS feeds? Linked In? Forum? We found out..

The web is filled with forums of photo geeks discussing the latest tips and tricks with their Canon cameras, but they do so without any help or guidance from the mothership.  Canon is missing a huge opportunity here to connect with its devoted user base by setting up a social platform of some sort on their site.

What deals does this site offer to online consumers? Are there offers for returning customers? Is this generally an expensive or a bargain e-shop?.
We browsed the special deals section on Canon’s site, but there wasn’t really anything so special there – a few refurbished camera bodies and lenses.  For deals on Canon gadgets, check eBay first.

Considering that Canon was one of the originators of the term “multimedia”, their website is a huge letdown.  The product photos are of course impeccable, but they have no video or panoramic views.

It’s hard to tell which payment plans Canon accepts and which they don’t.  For this review, we weren’t able to make any purchases, so we can’t even tell you now.

Can you contact the site with queries? This grades the email support, live chat and telephone contacts available to users..

The email support for Canon is a bloated and outdated system that was popular last decade – you get a ticket number and a generic email is sent to your inbox.  We expected much more from this online store.
